Conclusions

• Children construct their ideas on the basis of their experience of the world.  Children discover ideas at all ages.
• Children are “knowers”. A teaching atmosphere encouraging children to express their ideas and beliefs is a prerequisite for discovery learning.
• Children of different age and talent learning together in small groups help each other to understanding novel ideas.
• Instead of instruction children need active participation in their own learning.
• Conceptual change is enhanced if the process of learning encourages awareness of the natural phenomena.
